Lulu and I celebrated the second anniversary of my retirement tonight. We went back to Buffalito Grill for a couple of medium rare ribeyes. The steaks were exceedingly tender and cooked to perfection. Seasoned just right so that we didn't even need to add any salt (and for a couple of salt lovers like us, that's saying something). Just like the burgers, the steaks were cooked over a mesquite fire. They were accompanied by grilled zucchini and scallions. It was excellent.
Can't say as I've regretted anything about the last 2 years. Retirement is GOOD!

Congratulations. Can't say that we can say anything about not enjoying retirement even though we are rather tied down with the quilting business but with Beverly retiring in two years she will take over then we can really retire. Being our own bosses though does enable us to more free time than if we were hitting the clock for someone else. Love, Mom
Steve and Lulu: Congrats on the 2 year mark.
How did the Rondy go -- I get great photo's posted from Kurt.
Stay safe

Look for a little green Dana 24 with tanbark sails coming around the corner, and we will keep an eye out for you, too--leaving Puget Sound July 4, Mexico-bound, Hooahhhh!
It's been an amazing couple of years! This blog has chronicled all of the work but also the fun and adventure. I will join you in retirement at the end of this month, and maybe some time in Mexico as well.
CONGRATS! We agree.
Karen & Jim,
We read your blog and will be watching for you. What a treat to not be the smallest boat in the harbor for a change.

Congrats as well!
An introduction.......I never met you while you were here in Newport, but I heard of you via the folks who bought my previous boat on your old (E? dock, a Columbia 34 Matsu)dock, Geordie and Hallie. I found your blog a few months back, and after a marathon session of reading, ran into your friend Charlie R. while he was out walking the docks! Very small world sometimes. Anyways.......I LOVE your posts and just want you to know that even years after the fact, people will be reading this and living and dreaming about doing exactly what you are doing now. I really got a kick out of your daily posts while you were living aboard during the all-too-oppressive Newport winter, and while I realize that you aren't going stir crazy down there (unlike up here), the updates are very much enjoyed! I particularly value the prices of stuff (groceries, eating out, hauling...) and your recommendations.
Thanks again,
Blog stalker,
Jason
Well, thanks, Jason. It's gratifying to hear that someone is still reading that old stuff. I go back occasionally when I get an e-mail from someone asking me about my anchors or m windvane or something else about the boat. Rather than reinvent the wheel I go back and see if I've already written something that will answer their questions. Nine times out of ten, I did, and it was almost always while we were in Newport and I was a writing fool.
Anyway, thanks for the nice words and thanks for reading my stuff.
-Steve
Congrats on enjoying your retirement. Can't wait to follow in your footsteps soon!
